It’s a danger that lurks in every bathroom, yes, your everyday bar soap is one of the biggest threats to the longevity – and sparkling beauty – of your Secrets diamond simulant or coloured stone ring. Hand washing with bar soap leaves a fine residue under the stone, which as it builds up, can actually dislodge the stone.

Regular hand washing using bar soap can cause the stone to loosen due to the soap repeatedly drying and pushing the settings’ claws upwards and outwards. And it gets worse…  As the soap dries, it falls away from the stone and setting allowing new chunks of soap to replace the growing gap in your setting next time you wash your hands. Liquid soap is less harsh but still perilous. Limit the damage to your ring by thoroughly rinsing your hands with lukewarm water from a running tap after using liquid soap.

It’s important to regularly scrub your ring setting with a soft toothbrush, lukewarm water and a drop of dishwashing liquid. It’s the ammonia in the dishwashing liquid that will have your sparkler sparkling like new again. Dry your ring with a soft cloth before wearing again.

This simple and routine maintenance will ensure your Secrets ring shines bright and keeps the stone safely set in its mount.
